BAR votes to move ahead at February 20, 2008, meeting.

It's within our grasp: civility, common sense, and beauty can return to Marion Square.

The Board of Architectural Review (BAR) allowed King St. hotel plans to move forward by 5-1 vote on May 30, 2007. Adjacent property owner calls this "an oppportunity for a gateway to greatness" for King Street.

In its vote, the BAR approved a motion to defer voting it's preliminary approval for the proposed hotel, subject to a subsequent review of the Board's suggested design changes. The motion, by Sandy Logan, was made specifically without reference to or concern for the project's previously approved height, scale, and mass and with the acknowledgment that the design was "so close" to what is required for submission to the Board for preliminary approval.
