Membership in The Committee to Save the City (CSC) is open to all ... individuals, families, or businesses ... anyone interested in maintaining or improving the ambience of urban living, particularly as it relates to Charleston, South Carolina. While The CSC confines it’s activities to the Charleston area, it recognizes that Charleston is frequently cited as a leader in many activities of urban design and regulation and that the impact of our activities may be far wider than our own city.

We have accomplished much, but work remains to be done. Charleston’s scale is consistently in danger of being overwhelmed by volume of visitors, traffic, development. For example, we need controls on the number of mega-size cruise ships calling here and also on tour buses that rumble through our neighborhoods, tie up traffic, drive people from their porches, and literally shake our homes to their foundations. In addition, we need to guard against continuing erosion of our city’s architectural integrity.
We actively support a neighborhood’s right to direct and limit activities that infringe on its quality of life.
Memberships are for one calendar year. Members receive The Charleston City Guardian, the CSC’s quarterly publication. Those joining between September and December 31 should remit half of the annual dues rate.
Three levels of annual memberships are available: Individual - $20, Family - $30, and Business - $75. Become a Patron for a donation of $100 or more. Supplemental donations of any amount are most welcome.
